The term Log Home refers to
a home that is primarily constructed of machine-milled
or handcrafted logs. Typically, only the exterior
walls are constructed with logs, although some
homes have interior log walls as well. Often,
with Log Home kits, the end gables
and dormers are not full logs, but log siding.
Typically, a Log Home will have
exposed logs both on the outside of the home as
well on inside walls.
Although some Log Homes only
use split-log or half-log siding over a conventional
frame structure, these are not technically Log
Homes, even though they certainly appear
to be.
